Deferred Action for DREAMers: Video explaining the Announcment

The announcement about deferred action for eligible DREAM students caught us pleasantly by surprise.

Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation, if they were brought to the US before they turned 16 and are younger than 30; if they have been in the country for at least five continuous years; if they have no criminal history; if they graduated from a US high school or earned a GED, or served in the military, the Associated Press reports.

According to the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), the Obama administration’s decision to grant deferred action to certain unauthorized immigrants who were brought to the US as children could provide relief from deportation to as many as 1.4 million non-citizens under the age of 30.
